After a 25 year hiatus I'm back in the saddle again. Went to the local bike show Nov. 27th and test "sat" on all the cruisers...the Savage was the ONLY motorcycle there that allowed me to put both of my feet flat on the ground (hint: I'm 5' 1 ½" ). After discovering this web site and learning all the good, bad, and ugly, I just had to have one. So two days ago I rented a pickup truck and happened to be driving by a Suzuki dealership 2 hours from home (appropriately next to Disneyland) when out of nowhere a new, black ‘99 Savage650 jumped right into the bed of the truck!! I fed it when we got home and we've been having a lot of fun ever since.

This is my third Suzuki (purely coincidence-after a 200cc and 380cc), and has turned out to be my favorite. Many thanks to Bert Heise for having such a fantastic web site and to all the web forum members for their contributions. I didn't even bother looking at the trade magazine reviews after reading all of yours'. And it's comforting to know there is support out there if needed since I'm not the least bit mechanical. The only surprise I've had so far is how "cold" it is riding in California....everything is relative - I'm originally from Miami, Florida. THANK YOU ALL!!!

One question: Can someone define for me in minutes and/or seconds how much time is "enough" idling time after warm or cold engine start to allow the engine oil to circulate before riding. The manual fails to do that. Scanned the postings and don't know where this info is buried if it is listed.
